The widow's offering

 The widow's offering

The widow's offering is a well-known story from the Bible that can be found in the New Testament, specifically in the Gospels of Mark (Mark 12:41-44) and Luke (Luke 21:1-4). It is a story that highlights the concept of sacrificial giving and the value of a person's heart attitude in their giving

Here is a summary of the story:

Jesus was in the temple in Jerusalem, observing people as they made their offerings. Many wealthy people came and put large sums of money into the temple treasury. However, a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which were worth very little.

Jesus, noticing this, called his disciples and pointed out the widow's offering to them. He praised her, saying that she had given more than all the others because she had given out of her poverty, while the wealthy had given out of their abundance. He emphasized that she had given everything she had to live on, whereas the others had given only a portion of their wealth.

In this story, Jesus observes people making their offerings in the temple. Many wealthy individuals give large sums of money, which would seem impressive on the surface. However, what truly captures Jesus' attention and admiration is the humble act of a poor widow who contributes just two small copper coins, all she had to live on. Jesus commends her because, in His eyes, her offering was more significant than the substantial donations of the wealthy individuals.

The key lesson from this story is not about the amount of money given but the spirit behind the giving. The widow's offering demonstrated her deep faith and commitment to God. She gave sacrificially, offering everything she had, while the others gave out of their abundance. Jesus teaches that God values the heart and motive behind our giving more than the quantity or size of the gift. This story encourages believers to give with a generous and sincere heart, even if they have little to give, trusting that God sees and appreciates their faithfulness.

The Parable of the Lost Son: The Prodigal Son

The Parable of the Lost Son, also known as the Parable of the Prodigal Son, is a famous story from the Bible, specifically from the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament. It is found in Luke 15:11-32 and is a parable told by Jesus to illustrate God's boundless love and forgiveness. Here is a summary of the Parable of the Lost Son: A man had two sons. The younger son came to his father and asked for his share of the inheritance, even though his father was still alive. In a culture where this request was seen as disrespectful and ungrateful, the father surprisingly divided his property between his two sons. The younger son then set off to a distant country, where he squandered all his wealth in wild living. After a severe famine struck the land, the younger son found himself impoverished and in desperate need. He hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him into the fields to feed pigs. In his extreme hunger, he longed to eat the pig's food but no one gave...

Value of life - Short Story

Once, in a small village nestled between rolling hills and meandering streams, there lived an elderly man named Kavi. Kavi was known for his wisdom and the peaceful aura that surrounded him. Despite facing numerous hardships in his life, he always wore a smile that mirrored the warmth of the sunrise. One day, a curious young man approached Kavi and asked, "Old man, what is the true value of life?" Kavi, with a twinkle in his eye, invited the young man to take a walk with him through the village. As they strolled along the cobbled paths, Kavi began to share his story. "Many years ago, I was a prosperous merchant," Kavi began. "I owned grand houses, filled with treasures and surrounded by vast fields. However, one fateful day, a fire engulfed everything I had. My wealth turned to ashes, and I was left with nothing but the clothes on my back." The young man listened intently as Kavi continued, "In that moment of loss, I discovered the true value of lif...
